Smitha Gopal serves as Chief Operating Officer at EcoMap Technologies, where she leads operational strategy for the company's AI-powered ecosystem intelligence platform. She brings proven executive leadership from successfully scaling and exiting a healthcare technology company.
As COO at EcoMap, Smitha applies her experience building and scaling technology companies to help economic development organizations strengthen their business ecosystems. Her background spans healthcare technology, investment banking, and active community leadership in Baltimore's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Smitha previously served as CEO of Rendia, a Baltimore-based medical software company that she led through acquisition by PatientPoint in October 2022. Under her leadership, Rendia's video platform helped over 8,000 doctors improve patient communication and care outcomes. Earlier in her career, she worked at a boutique investment bank, developing expertise in financial strategy and business development.
Smitha holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Finance from the University of Virginia. This combination of financial expertise and business strategy knowledge informs her operational leadership at EcoMap.
Beyond her executive role, Smitha actively contributes to Baltimore's business ecosystem as a trustee at the Baltimore Museum of Industry and a board member of The Leadership and Middle Grades Partnership. She mentors entrepreneurs through Conscious Venture Labs and Innovation Works, supporting the next generation of startup founders.
