Baltimore [10/24/23] — EcoMap Technologies (EcoMap), a category-defining ecosystem AI software company, today announced the appointment of Sherrod Davis as CEO. Davis is being elevated from COO by EcoMap’s Board of Directors in the wake of the tragic death of his co-founder and CEO, Pava LaPere.
Davis said, “For the last three years, as EcoMap’s COO, I have worked hand-in-glove with Pava in a professional partnership and a trusted friendship, allowing us to operate efficiently and effectively together as a team. I was named CEO by our board last week. While there is no replacing a leader like Pava, I am committed and feel exceptionally well prepared to lead EcoMap into the future and to build the breakout company we both envisioned.”
Since joining EcoMap in 2021, Davis has played a pivotal role in the company’s growth. He has been instrumental in securing nearly $8 million in funding to advance EcoMap’s next-generation technology and expand the team to 30 members, including recruits from cities like Chicago, Boston, Dallas, and New York City.
“As the long-time lead of EcoMap’s business development efforts,” Davis added, “I know first hand the market’s belief in our product and the force of our vision to power ecosystems everywhere. We are in a very strong position as we head toward year end. Not only have we built a category-defining company, and generated strong revenue momentum, but we’ve also weathered perhaps the most difficult situation a young company can face —and shown our resilience and determination as a team in the face of unimaginable circumstances. In a powerful legacy for Pava, we plan to accelerate EcoMap forward.”
Davis, a Baltimore native, holds a Master’s in Management from Wake Forest University and a BA from Davidson College.
He has worked in tech his entire career. Prior to joining EcoMap as co-founder and COO, Davis co-founded AdWap, an adtech platform with a charitable fundraising focus. He also held leadership roles at TrackOFF, a data privacy startup that was acquired by Avast Software in 2019, and Protenus, series D healthtech startup.
Davis has been active in the Baltimore tech ecosystem as one of the co-founders of a coalition dedicated to transforming Baltimore into a hub for diverse tech professionals. His contributions to the tech community have earned him recognition as a ‘Best in Tech’ Executive by the Baltimore Business Journal. He is also involved in various community initiatives and currently serves on the boards of Retrain America and Code in the Schools.
EcoMap Technologies remains committed to honoring Pava LaPere by fulfilling her mission under Davis’ leadership. EcoMap is already building on its success with the release of an AI chatbot, Ecobot, and a newer version of EcoMap software that LaPere had called “the next generation ecosystem platform.”
