Baltimore [8/13/24] — EcoMap Technologies (EcoMap), a category-defining ecosystem intelligence AI software company, today announced the appointment of Jamie McDonald to their Board of Directors.
McDonald started her career in investment banking, serving as a long-time Managing Director at Alex. Brown and its successor Deutsche Bank. For eight years, McDonald was co-head of private equity coverage, leading the firm’s relationships with private equity investors across the country. She then pivoted into innovation, marrying her passion for tech and network building as co-Founder of GiveCorps, a SaaS software solution for civic innovation, community building and philanthropy, which was sold to Network for Good in 2014.
She then consulted for a number of years with both for-profit and non-profit founders that worked at the intersection of technology and social change before taking the helm in 2021 as CEO of UpSurge, a startup initiative launched in Baltimore by the City’s leading companies and institutions, including Johns Hopkins, Brown Advisory, and Pointfield Partners (the family office of Baltimore Ravens owner, Steve Bisciotti). UpSurge is an ambitious tech ecosystem engine that aims to build Baltimore into America’s first Equitech city.
She retired from UpSurge at the end of 2023, due to a family health issue, but remained deeply involved with EcoMap’s CEO, Sherrod Davis, as the company navigated the tragedy of founder Pava LaPere’s death and the demands of continued strong growth opportunities. Her expertise, national relationships, and commitment to EcoMap’s success make her a strong ally and leader for the company.
“Jamie has always been incredibly supportive of our work,” Sherrod Davis, Co-founder and CEO of EcoMap, said. “Jamie was one of Pava’s closest advisors, and when Pava died, she was one of the first people to offer support, connections, and advice on navigating what was a complex and emotional time for us. Having her on our Board of Directors just solidifies a relationship we have been fortunate to have for several years.”
“As we enter this next growth phase, Jamie’s unique blend of experience will be critical as we scale,” Davis said. “Her passion for empowering entrepreneurs and her deep roots building and advising category-defining companies make her an invaluable addition to our board. With her guidance, we’re confident EcoMap will continue driving equitable access to knowledge and opportunities that fuel sustainable growth for ecosystems everywhere.”
