Maryland Chamber becomes first organization to implement EcoMap’s newly launched Ecosystem Scorecard
Annapolis, MD [February 17, 2026] — The Maryland Chamber of Commerce has partnered with EcoMap Technologies, a Baltimore-based AI software company specializing in Ecosystem Intelligence™, to become the first organization to implement its Ecosystem Scorecard. This newly launched platform will transform how the Chamber tracks and analyzes Maryland’s business competitiveness, giving businesses and policymakers timely, actionable insights.
The partnership brings together two Maryland organizations working to strengthen the state’s business climate. The Maryland Chamber has measured state competitiveness for years through an annual Competitiveness Index and Data Spotlights report scorecard tracking metrics, including business friendliness, population growth, taxation, housing affordability, and infrastructure. With a lean team of 10 staff members, the manual data compilation process required two weeks of intensive work and limited the Chamber’s ability to provide year-round insights or expand and deepen its analysis.
“Our competitiveness tracking has been a valuable resource for members and policymakers,” said Mary D. Kane, President and CEO of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. “With the support of the Maryland Chamber Foundation, implementing the Ecosystem Scorecard means we’re taking a significant step forward in how we serve our stakeholders. This partnership will make our data easier to access, continuously updated, and more actionable than ever. We expect it will help our members, stakeholders, and policymakers understand emerging trends in real time and use those insights to drive solutions that strengthen Maryland’s economy and support progress across the state.”
The Ecosystem Scorecard, part of EcoMap’s Ecosystem Intelligence™ suite, automates economic data tracking and delivers insights into regional business competitiveness. Designed for chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, and state agencies, the platform aggregates and normalizes data across nine key indicators, including population trends, job growth, labor costs, taxation, business friendliness, business formation and survival rates, education metrics, technology employment, and GDP.
The platform replaces static annual reports with dynamic intelligence. Automated updates, interactive visualization, and benchmarking capabilities allow the Maryland Chamber to compare state performance against national averages, year-over-year trends, and peer states without requiring additional staff or technical expertise.
“We’re proud to partner with the Maryland Chamber on the launch of Ecosystem Scorecard,” said Sherrod Davis, co-founder and CEO of EcoMap. “Economic development organizations are being asked to provide increasingly sophisticated data analysis while managing lean teams. The Scorecard removes the infrastructure barrier. It works continuously in the background, turning what used to be a quarterly or annual research project into an always-on intelligence system.”
The Maryland Chamber will use the Ecosystem Scorecard to enhance its policy advocacy, strengthen member communications with data-backed insights, and provide business leaders with clear visibility into Maryland’s competitive position. The platform includes features that address common challenges economic development organizations face:
- Dynamic Data Management eliminates manual data collection by automatically aggregating information from trusted sources and normalizing it for comparison across regions and time periods.
- Interactive Dashboards provide professional-grade visualizations that can be customized for board presentations, member communications, and stakeholder reports.
- Benchmarking Tools enable organizations to compare their region’s performance against peer regions, national averages, and historical trends without requiring specialized analytics expertise.
- Real-Time Updates replace static annual reports with continuously refreshed data, allowing organizations to spot emerging trends and respond to competitive shifts as they happen.
